Industries / Design lenses

Context changes what good design must do.

Visual character matters, but industry-aware design goes deeper. It changes what appears first, which evidence earns trust, how actions are sequenced, which records control the truth and where a person must remain accountable.

Nine decisions that should change the brief.

Use these lenses in interviews, journey mapping, content modelling and technical discovery. Each should lead to an explicit design decision.

01

Audience

Who is trying to understand, decide, act or verify—and under what pressure?

02

Evidence

What proves competence, compliance, progress, quality or completion?

03

Transaction

Is value created by enquiry, booking, purchase, approval, assignment or ongoing service?

04

Record

Which system or document is authoritative when channels disagree?

05

Permission

Who may see, change, approve, export or challenge information?

06

Mobility

Does the experience need to survive sunlight, gloves, interruption or weak connectivity?

07

Asset

Which products, vehicles, sites, equipment or documents carry operational state?

08

Risk

What is the consequence of delay, ambiguity, incorrect advice or exposed data?

09

Geography

How do service area, local context, travel, jurisdiction and availability affect the promise?

A practical quality test

Can the interface explain its most important decision?

A strong system can explain why information is present, where it came from, who may act, what happens next, what failure looks like and how a person recovers. Decorative industry language cannot substitute for that clarity.

Translate context into a serious brief

Bring the operating problem, not a predetermined page count.

We will map audiences, evidence, actions, records, permissions and the journey from discovery to dependable operation.
